The Choir

Music at the heart of Holy Trinity.

Holy Trinity’s choir sings at the 11.00am Choral Eucharist most Sundays, under the direction of our Director of Music, Ewan Murray. It’s a genuinely intergenerational group, with singers ranging from age eight to eighty, and its sound has become one of Holy Trinity’s great gifts to the wider city.

We’re always on the lookout for young singers aged eight and above with a passion for singing, as well as new adult members. The choir helps lead the congregation in worship each Sunday morning during term-time, singing hymns, psalms, and choir pieces, eleven months of the year. During services, children take time out to develop their musicianship through the Royal School of Church Music’s “Voice for Life” scheme, alongside their music theory.

We sing a wide range of repertoire, spanning from the sixteenth century to recently published compositions, and we’re proud to be RSCM affiliated. We visit a cathedral at least once a year, usually for a weekend in residence, providing music at services while the cathedral’s own choir is on holiday. Our most recent trip, in April 2025, took twenty singers to Bristol Cathedral. Holy Trinity also hosts concerts for the Three Choirs Festival every three years, and the building is a popular venue for rehearsals and performances by local schools and ensembles. We’re a local examination centre for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM).
