St Michael’s, Breinton
A place of peace, rooted in the rhythms of village life.
St Michael’s sits at the heart of Breinton, a beautiful village on the western edge of Hereford, bordered by orchards, footpaths, and the River Wye. It has been woven into the rhythms of village life for generations. People may not come every Sunday, but they hold St Michael’s in deep affection and turn to it at moments of celebration, remembrance, and need.
The setting is part of the ministry. St Michael’s is a place of peace and stillness, where the landscape and the building work together to draw people gently Godwards. Visitors often come simply to sit, to pray, or to enjoy the quiet. This contemplative quality is perhaps St Michael’s greatest gift.

The congregation is small but faithful. People know one another well. Worship is unhurried, rooted, and shaped by the traditions of the Book of Common Prayer alongside Common Worship.
The annual church fête remains a highlight of the village year, drawing large numbers and offering a joyful point of connection between church and community. Major festivals draw many who may not attend regularly but who value St Michael’s as a place of meaning, memory, and welcome.
We are not in a hurry. We want to grow gently, faithfully, in step with the life of the community around us.
