Our New Website
Why it looks the way it does
We’ve just launched a new website for the West Hereford Team, and I wanted to explain why it looks the way it does.
All Saints, Holy Trinity, and St Michael’s are three different churches. I wanted each one to sound like itself, while the Team-wide content celebrates our shared calling. Underneath that, there’s one thing running through the whole site. Church isn’t mainly a set of beliefs to sign up to. We’re a people being formed to be a bit more like Jesus, for the sake of the people around us. That’s why the site opens with “come as you are.” Walking into somewhere new is hard, and I wanted our website to make it just a little bit easier.
I’ve tried to avoid the usual church website language too, so that it will help people who are just finding their way to our doors, many of whom will have never been to church, others who haven’t been for ages.
I also wanted the site to practise the welcome it preaches. There’s a new Accessibility page covering what each church offers, step-free access, hearing loops, baby changing, and what’s available in print: large-print service books and noticesheets on request, and a Braille transcription of the Holy Trinity hymn booklet, done every month.
If there’s anything that would make it easier for you to visit or use this site, let me know.
